Cohabitation Policy The intention of this Policy is to compliment the Church’s Marriage Policy. Any matter not addressed, or satisfactorily addressed, in this Policy or the Marriage Policy shall be left to the sole discretion of the Church’s Leadership. As per our established Marriage Policy, traditional marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman. As such, said man and woman are required to have formally committed to one another and God in Holy matrimony in the presence of a legally authorized authority, such as magistrate or licensed minister of the Gospel. A man and a woman who live in a cohabited relationship without having a legally recognized marriage, as outlined in our Marriage Policy are not recognized or considered to be married. Cohabitation is defined as a living arrangement in which an unmarried male and female live together in a short-term relationship. While such arrangements may resemble marriage, they are not marriage. Global Church, believes marriage is a divine institution established and ordained by God (Gen 2:18-25). According to Genesis 2:24, God presented Adam with Eve, which established the first marriage. Hebrews 13:4 commands everyone to honor the institution of marriage. We believe that every moral issue is fundamentally a biblical issue therefore, cohabitation outside of the sanctity of marriage is contrary to the inerrant Holy Scriptures. Deuteronomy 22:23-24 reinforces the importance of marriage and prohibits premarital sex which is sin. We believe that this Policy is based upon God’s will for human life as conveyed to us through the Holy Scriptures. We cannot support or condone such acts outside of the conviction that we stand by. We will not be a partaker of another sin (1Tim. 5:22). However, we extend leadership through our Eldership for counseling to those in a cohabited relationship.
I acknowledge and understand Global Church Cohabitation Policy.
